The second row, left to right, shows Grosset & Dunlap dustwrappers for: (1) Tom Swift & His Giant Cannon; or, The Longest Shot on Record (1913). (2) Tom Swift & His Giant Magnet; or, Bringing Up the Lost Submarine (1932). (3) Tom Swift & His electric Locomotive; or, Two Miles a Minute on the Rails (1922). (4) Tom Swift & His Photo Telephone; or, The Picture That Saved a Fortune (1914). The last dustjacket in this row (as well as the two middle jackets in row three) is an example of the "duotone" dustwrappers seen on editions from 1918 & to 1930, replacing the quad-jackets that appeared on editions before 1918. The duo-tones are partially colorized versions of the frontispieces. The more pleasing full color jackets were introduced in 1931 with original illustrations fitted to new printings of the older books as well.
